Acupuncture is one of the oldest and most commonly used medical procedures in the world and has proven benefits for recovering from illness and injury. It can help alleviate symptoms of arthritis, sciatica, back pain, bursitis and neuropathy, among many other conditions.

The technique involves inserting thin, disposable needles into specific acupuncture points throughout the body. The needles may be manipulated by the hands or by an electrical stimulation. Most people find acupuncture relaxing and experience minimal discomfort.

Acupuncture can be used as an individual therapy or combined successfully with other forms of conservative care such as Chiropractic and Physiotherapy. Sessions usually last between 30 to 60 minutes. Relief may be immediate or occur within a few hours or days following treatment.

Yoga

This program is great for those new to yoga, or for those seeking to improve or grow their yoga practice.

Audrey graduated from the 3300 hour Registered Massage Therapy program at VCMT. Born and raised in Vancouver, she grew up being active in various sports such as basketball, volleyball, swimming, figuring skating and horseback riding. In recent years, she’s added Muay Thai and BJJ to the list. Having the opportunity to dabble in different sports made her appreciate how profound the human body really is especially seeing how each body reacts and adapts to injury as well as recovery during rehabilitation.

Audrey is interested in working all along the kinetic chain to help achieve better function and reduce pain. Whether patient concern is general maintenance/stress reduction, injury prevention or rehabilitation, Audrey is committed to not only addressing patient pain/concerns but also empowering them to better understand their condition and working together with them as a team to help achieve their goals effectively in the long run so they can go back to doing what they love doing.

When not in the clinic, you can find Audrey at the gym, playing sports or going on adventures with her puppy Koda.

Yan attended a yoga class in 2015 for first time where she quickly and deeply fell in love with it. Her yoga journey began by completing her first teacher training in China in 2016. Yan became interested in knowing more about the human body, so she completed further studies in anatomy, myofascial release, breathing patterns, pilates, personal training and zumba.

After immigrating to Canada, Yan took another 200 hrs yoga teacher training in 2023, and then embarked on her Yoga Therapy studies. She achieved the Foundations of Yoga Therapy Certificate, followed with the Advanced Yoga Therapy Diploma and is now a Yoga Therapist (in process), with her case study set for completion in February 2025 for C-IAYT ( Certification-International Association of Yoga Therapist) at Vancouver School of Healing Arts.

Yan has chosen to specialize in chronic pain in her yoga therapy studies. Her greatest sense of fulfillment is seeing her clients reducing their pain level and improving their quality of life, through her therapeutic approach. When her clients have told her that they feel they now have their body back, that really brings her joy. As Yan has experienced chronic pain for over 15 years, she has compassion and motivation to serve people who suffer from chronic pain.

Outside her work and studying, Yan volunteers as a group facilitator with Pain BC. She loves reading and camping with her dogs (as an animal lover, she has 3 dogs and 2 cats). Yan loves traveling locally and internationally to explore different places, cultures and tasting different foods.
